Justin Bieber Performing Charity Show For Underprivileged Students | ecorazzi.com :: the latest in green gossip

Justin Bieber may not be old enough to go to college, but he’s performing a charity concert to help students who want to reach their own academic goals.
The College Track benefit concert will be held on June 11th at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, with all proceeds going to benefit underprivileged high school students. The non-profit organization helps with after school programs to get students prepared for the application process, and even follows them into college to provide emotional support for the changes that come with a new environment.
Ticket prices range from $250 for FAN level seats, all the way up to $2,000 for the premium level, and all guests who attend are invited to join a pre and post concert reception that will include drinks, apps, and some yummy desserts along with a souvenir t-shirt!

Celebs have praised the Biebs for his involvement with the charity, as Ashton Kutcher took to his Twitter and wrote, “Hey Justin Bieber proud that you are playing a show for College Track. Good on you.”
Agreed, totally good on you Biebs!

'Sex and the City generation' of women in their 40s sees abortion rate soar by a third | Mail Online

The 'Sex and the City' generation: Women are now remaining sexually active for longer

The number of women in their 40s having abortions has risen by almost a third in the past decade, newly released government figures show.
The sudden rise is being attributed to an increase in the amount of sexual activity among what has been dubbed the 'Sex in the City generation'.
Older women - including higher numbers of singles and divorcees - are now more likely to have casual relationships and are more inclined to take chances with contraception.
The figures reveal 8,179 women aged 40 and above had an abortion last year with more than 650 aged over 45.
Anne Furedi, the chief executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, told the Sunday Times, she believed the increase was as a result of women staying sexually active for longer.

She said: 'Women in their 40s increasingly see themselves as sexual players whether or not they are in relationships - in a way that they didn't even a decade ago.'
Most of the abortions were carried out before 12 weeks when ante-natal screening begins, suggesting they had been unplanned pregnancies.

However some of the procedures included women who had tried to get pregnant but decided to undergo a termination after being told there was a high chance of abnormalities such as Down's Syndrome.
Josephine Quinatavalle, of the Pro-Life Alliance told the newspaper: 'These figures are extraordinarily depressing.
'When we see high rates of teen pregnancy we often end up debating whether ignorance is to blame, but you would think by the age of 40 women have some idea of how things work.
'It seems incredible that at that age, any woman would take such reckless chances.'
The figures show that in the past three decades the percentage of single women in Britain has more than doubled.
And in the same period divorce rates have increased massively with half of today's marriages not expected to last compared to one in three in 1980.

Beautiful babes in arms: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban carry their pair of gorgeous girls as they jet out of LAX | Mail Online

Travelling with small children can be a nightmare for most parents.
But as Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban made their way through L.A.X. with their daughters, both little girls behaved impeccably.

Country singer Keith carried a snoozing Sunday Rose, who will be three in July, who appeared to be while Nicole was charged with carrying the newest member of their family little Faith Margaret.

Happy family: Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban were seen carrying their daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret through LAX yesterday

These pictures are the first sightings of five month old Faith with the rest of the family.
Australian actress, Nicole, 43, was dressed in a pair of olive green trousers a patterned blouse, burgundy jumper and dark jacket.

Singer-songwriter Keith kept things casual in jeans and a T-shirt and donned a baseball cap for the travel.

Both little girls were dressed in white and Sunday Rose wore her hair in two side plait

What a good girl: Although their newest addition to the family is just five months old Faith was well behaved as the family headed to the plane

Earlier this month Keith was honoured with a star on Nashville’s Music City Walk of Fame and was joined by his wife to celebrate the unveiling of his plaque.

The couple welcomed the newest addition to their family Faith Margaret in December who was born by surrogate.

Speaking about the experience Nicole said: ‘Having given birth and then being there to see my child born in that way, I felt so much love for our surrogate, gestational carrier.’

Red carpet glamour: Nicole looked stunning in black as she and Keith attended the Billboard Music Awards

The Academy Award-winning actress also explained that she uses the term ‘gestational carrier’ as opposed to ‘surrogate’.

Speaking to Australia’s 60 minutes Nicole explained: ‘We were trying to be accurate.

The term gestational carrier is used if it's your biological child and if it isn't, then you use surrogate. I mean, who knows what it is. But she's the most wonderful woman to do this for us.’

Stars Who Got Their Start on Soap Operas

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa

Plucked from the stage of a school production of The Ugly Ducking, Kelly Ripa was advised to pursue professional acting—and it paid off. After scoring a role on the USA Network’s Dance Party USA, she got her big break on All My Children as the troubled Hayley Vaughan. “What I like about Hayley is that she’s not a quitter. She may sometimes feel like giving up, but I have this sense that she never will,” Ripa said back then. In addition to three Daytime Emmy nominations, Ripa found love on the set when her character was coupled with the sexy Mark ConsuelosMateo Santos. In real life, the two dated for a year before secretly eloping in Las Vegas. After 12 years on AMC, Kelly moved on to co-host Live with Regis & Kelly and raise a family that includes kids Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.

First Look: Tom Hardy As Bane From ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ | /Film

Fans had to work Friday morning to reveal the first official image of Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. Along with Thursday’s unexciting press release announcing the beginning of production on Christopher Nolan‘s highly anticipated third part in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. also launched the film’s official website www.thedarkknightrises.com. Originally, if you clicked over there, it was just a black image with some really weird chanting. A fan was able to look at the visual spectrum of that audio file and in it was…a Twitter Hashtag. You can’t make this stuff up. The hashtag, #thefirerises, when tweeted, slowly revealed, pixel by pixel, some kind of image on the site.
Now, that image has been revealed. It’s Tom Hardy as Bane. The image above is just a taste, check out the full thing after the jump.

Thanks to JoBlo and a fan over at SuperHeroHype for the heads up on this viral campaign and for deciphering the first code. It’s still being filled in with tweets but, once it’s done, this will be the image. Click to enlarge to high res.
This all started with a weird chanting on the official site. Here’s what the visual spectrum of the chanting looked like, revealing the original hashtag.
And as of publication, here’s what’s on the site at www.thedarkknightrises.com/image.html. Each pixel is the Twitter icon of the person who tweeted #thefirerises. You can see that it will eventually become the image above.
So what do you think of Bane? Are you excited for a viral campaign to begin? Can you believe that it’s started this early in production?

Bollywood mother's day special: 'Mere paas maa hai' - Entertainment - DNA

Ranbir Kapoor on Neetu Kapoor
For actor Ranbir Kapoor, Mother’s Day has always been a day he has celebrated with much enthusiasm right from his childhood days. “As a kid, I remember making cards for her and saving pocket money to take her out for a special dinner,” he shares. About his relationship with mom, actor Neetu Kapoor he says, “I always count mom among my closest friends. I can talk to her just about anything under the sun and I know she’ll understand without being judgemental. Of course, she can never stop being a mom.”

The actor feels that moms make so many sacrifices for their kids that ‘We just can’t be grateful enough to them,’ but “today is a day to show them how much they mean to us.” This time around though, Neetu is away in Delhi, so Ranbir might not be able to take her out on dinner, but rest assured he will make up to her when she returns. “Yes, we’ll have a quiet celebration then,” he smiles.

Abhishek Bachchan on Jaya Bachchan
Actor Abhishek Bachhan reveals that he’s not the quintessential mamma’s boy, though seeing his mom at home always makes his day. Nor does he believe in celebrating one particular day as Mother’s Day to shower his love on mom, actor Jaya Bachchan, but Abhi does admit that he owes a lot to her. “I don’t think that you need a special day to say how much you love your mom or tell her what she means to you,” shares Abhishek.

But he does add that it’s always good to make her feel special and thank her for everything that she’s done for us. “Well, the fact is that no matter how much you earn, you can never buy her a gift expensive enough that can truly compensate the love that she has for you, but yes, never give up trying,” he says. “They are always givers, while we children are always takers. It’s a good day to reverse roles I guess,” he smiles.

Death of Usama Bin Laden Draws Mostly Positive Reaction in Hollywood - FoxNews.com

The news of Usama Bin Laden's death triggered a wave of patriotism across the United States on Sunday night. But a handful in Hollywood were not as ecstatic.
"I dont know how I feel about 'celebrating' death. But im just glad this happened during a good man's presidency," tweeted "Maroon 5" frontman Adam Levine. "I feel a sense of RELIEF as opposed to a sense of JOY."
Katy Perry also seemed to have mixed thoughts on the issue, tweeting:
"I believe in justice... but don't u think that an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind?" she wrote, before a little later adding some pro-American rhetoric with "...But in general (& then after this I'll go back to being an opinion less popstar) It is a GREAT day 4 America & I'm PROUD 2 b an American!"

Royal wedding: Prince Harry posts spoof video on his Facebook page - Telegraph

Prince Harry tells his Facebook friends that the YouTube video starring royal lookalikes gives them a taste of 'what to expect' at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding.

It is a worldwide internet hit which mercilessly lampoons the royal wedding, but it has neverthess won an unlikely fan in Prince Harry.
Mandrake hears that Prince William’s mischievous younger brother has been using his Facebook page to share with his pals a three-minute video which features lookalikes of the bride, groom and other members of the Royal family — not to mention himself — breaking into dance as they weave their way up the aisle in a church masquerading as Westminster Abbey.
The 26-year-old Prince, who will be the best man at Friday’s ceremony, posted it along with a music video featuring a raucous Irish wedding on his Facebook page.
He ruefully told everyone who downloaded it that it gave a taste of “what to expect” at his brother’s wedding.
Harry, who has developed a reputation as the practical joker of the Royal family, is, undoubtedly, the “star” of the spoof wedding, which has been viewed more than 12.5million times on YouTube, the video-sharing website.

Diana & Kate: An iconic Princess and a Princess-to-be

Kate is already posting Diana-type numbers in terms of news worthiness and celebrity status. But will she really surpass the iconic Late Lady Diana? A comparative study

Middleton first met Prince William while she was studying at the University of St Andrews in 2001. The couple has been in a relationship over a period of last eight years with two brief splits as the only halts.
Compared to Kate-William courtship which lasted over 8 years, Diana-Charles affair was really short. Even though the Prince had known Diana for several years, they got romantically involved only a year before their wedding. Diana was accepted by the royal family and the Prince proposed her on February 1981.

Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Chris Colfer Make Time's 100 Most Influential List - Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV

NYC signing September 1,2009 Nintendo Store - NYCImage via Wikipedia

What kind of list includes Justin Bieber alongside Vice President Joseph Biden, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and Oprah Winfrey? It must be Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The annual count of the people who, for better or worse, make our world fascinating, includes an essay by mentor Usher extolling the virtues of the Biebs.

"From the minute I met Justin, I knew this kid possessed a certain confidence that only a star could have," wrote Usher. "He was born a star. He knew what he wanted to accomplish; all he had to do was get everyone else to believe it. Now, looking back at his incredible run, the reality of who he is and what he's accomplished far exceeds anybody's expectations of him. What's interesting and will keep the world watching is that at the same time he's having this incredible success, he's like any other kid living a normal life."

In his typically impish style, "Parks & Recreation" co-star and comedian Aziz Ansari spent most of his 150 words in praise of series star and producer Amy Poehler, after complaining about an alleged real estate scam she pulled on him. "That said, I cannot say how much I admire and respect Amy Poehler," he wrote. "In comedy, a lot of what you see feels derivative and uninspired; with Amy, 39, there is always something fresh and unexpected, and that's why I love her work."

Director Baz Luhrmann marveled at actress Blake Lively for pulling off the unique trick of channeling the "vitality of youth — that indefinable, natural, unprocessed glamour full of possibility and filled with anticipation for an endless future."

Actress Glenn Close wrote of the talents of her "Albert Nobbs" co-star Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland," "The Kids Are All Right"), saying the 21-year-old is "a sun, not a satellite. She generates her own energy. She's seductive because she's not compelled to reveal everything. Her shyness has made her an acute observer. At the same time, she loves a good joke, loves to laugh and can suddenly have the boisterous physicality of a teenager. Mia will be many things in life and will defy expectation because she's brilliant and curious and not fooled by what most people define as success."

When it comes to "Glee" star Chris Colfer, co-star Dianna Agron said the 20-year-old song-and-dance man "lives by extreme truth, speaking out against the epidemic of bullying that he, too, faced in high school. The honesty that he infuses into his 'Glee' character, Kurt, leaves you reeling." Elsewhere, B.o.B writes of his pal Bruno Mars, 25, that the singer/songwriter "has a musicality, a presence in his voice that I've never heard from anyone else."

Among the others making the list were Google executive Wael Ghonim, credited with being the voice of the revolution in Egypt; Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg; WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange; Congresswoman and shooting victim Gabrielle Giffords; Sting; and President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. For the third year, South Korean pop superstar Rain made it onto the list as the result of a reader's poll

Movie Review - 'Water For Elephants' - Under The Big Top, With A Pachyderm In The Room : NPR

Trainer Wreck: A bereaved circus veterinarian (Robert Pattinson) and a performer (Reese Witherspoon) with an abusive husband are brought closer by their shared affection for an animal colleague in Water for Elephants.
For all I know, the actor Robert Pattinson may be hell on wheels onstage, where he's done Shakespeare and Cole Porter. But thus far in his film career, he's mostly demonstrated uncommonly lovely bones and a thorough mastery of looking tenderly down upon the desolate damsels nestled in his arms. No one has yet asked him to do any serious screen acting — with or without sparkly sprinkles on the preternaturally pale skin that, along with his apparent reluctance to play celebrity, has proved so alluring to American teenage girls.

Water for Elephants, a Depression-era romantic drama adapted by screenwriter Richard LaGravenese (The Bridges of Madison County) from the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen, asks little more of Pattinson than did the Twilight franchise, unless you count the ability to charm an elderly pachyderm into doing his bidding with a few words from the Polish phrasebook. Beyond that, it's the same old anguished stares into the middle distance, garnished with the occasional enigmatic grimace and a puzzling reluctance to jump the bones of Reese Witherspoon.

Which seems a pity given that the movie, which plays a bit like a young-adult version of They Shoot Horses, Don't They? gets the plot out of the house and on the road to action-adventure with the brisk efficiency one would expect from director Francis Lawrence, who made the very busy I Am Legend. Pattinson plays a veterinary student who, deprived of a solid future by the sudden death of his loving parents, takes to riding the rails. With remarkable speed given the times, Jacob finds work caring for sick animals in a traveling circus headed by August (Christoph Waltz), a manipulative bully whose adored wife (Witherspoon) is the heavily sequined, transparently unhappy star attraction of the floundering enterprise.

Bonding over a dying horse and its endearing successor, Rosie the Elephant, Witherspoon's Marlena and Pattinson's Jacob fall in love, as they must. That they make an implausible pair has less to do with the age gap between the two actors — she's hardly cougar material yet, but Witherspoon has a decade on her young co-star — than with the fact that perky and mopey don't mix.

Witherspoon has done all kinds of intelligent work since her notable debut in The Man in the Moon, and she may yet make some imaginative choices when middle age puts paid to her ingenue looks. At 35, though, she's still stranded somewhere between the hyperachieving class president she played in Election (her finest role to date) and the lesser variations on Legally Blonde of recent years. Witherspoon makes an incongruously squeaky Marlena, and it doesn't help that Pattinson is about as ardently expressive as a log of wood trying to pass itself off as James Dean. Hal Holbrook has more fun in his bookend cameos, playing Jacob as a rheumy-eyed old man telling his story.

The only one bringing serious energy to the proceedings is Waltz, doing a slightly watered-down version of the uber-Nazi he played in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. And even he's trying to squeeze idiosyncrasy out of a Svengali who's as off-the-rack as the rest of the ensemble — which includes (sigh) an angry dwarf, an oversexed high-wire artist with designs on Jacob, a kindly old drunk and the usual broken-nosed goons, who in this instance specialize in throwing obsolete employees off the circus train.

The expertly staged climax, in which all manner of caged creatures, human and animal, cut loose from their bonds, comes as a relief from the endless inert scenes of forbidden romance. Rosie is good fun as far as cute elephants go, and it's nice, I suppose, that when the going gets rough she can go rogue in the service of gallantry. But it made me squirm that a movie with a love-conquers-all message includes the injunction that we must be kind to animals not because they are living beings, but because they can be induced by pricey Hollywood wranglers to perform tricks — like chugging back whiskey-laced lemonade or flirting with hunky movie stars — that remake them in our image.
